Monel 500 socket set screws provide the corrosion resistance of Monel 400 while also adding greater strength and hardness.
Monel 500 is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-copper alloy. It supplies the corrosion resistance of Monel 400 and adds greater strength and hardness. Monel 500 also offers low permeability and is nonmagnetic to temperatures as low as -150°F.
Monel 500 socket set screws offer three times the yield strength and two times the tensile strength of Monel 400 while maintaining the excellent corrosion resistance characteristic of its predecessor. These attributes are obtained by an age hardening process where aluminum and titanium are added to the nickel-copper base and then precipitated throughout the matrix.
Monel 500 socket set screws also have good toughness at high temperatures. They remain corrosion resistant in environments ranging from pure water to non-oxidizing mineral acids, salts, and alkalis. Finally, Monel 500 socket set screws offer excellent resistance to high-velocity sea water and resistance to a sour gas environment.
