With strength far surpassing materials like Titanium Grade 2 and 316 stainless steel, Titanium Grade 5 lock nuts are a great choice for the oil and gas industries as well as military applications.
Titanium grade 5 lock nuts also offer lightweight, stiffness and toughness. These lock nuts are resistant to seawater up to 500°F and are shown to last almost two decades in tests of polluted seawater. Additionally, they show no signs of pitting and crevice corrosion even when one mile below the surface. They are also resistant to erosion up to a velocity of 120 feet/second lending them well to the aerospace and aircraft industries.
Titanium Grade 5 lock nuts are resistant to attack by pure hydrocarbons and most chlorinated and fluorinated hydrocarbons provided there is no acid contamination. They are also fully resistant to solutions of chlorides, hypochlorides, chlorates, perchlorates and chlorine dioxide making them ideal for the paper industry.
Titanium Grade 5 is 6% aluminum and 4% vanadium.
